Getting your abs to show?
So, following up with my last post it seems most people would like to know to I train my abs and how I get them to show almost all year round. Well here are my personal tips to getting (and keeping) those abs.
1. Get your bodyfat down. Probably the most important 'tip' of all. The only way you are going to get your abs to show is if your bodyfat percentage is low enough. Generally, a good target is 10% for men and 15% for women. Clean up your diet and get some cardio in. Check out my previous post on my top 5 tips on how to stay #lean.
2. Keep ab training simple. I personally only do one or two exercises for my abs, usually it's hanging leg raises so I don't have any strain on my lower back. Sometimes I'll throw in some crunches or sit ups and I usually don't spend more than 5-10 mins doing them. I get a good deal of ab work doing squats and deadlifts already.
3. Focus on your contractions and breathing. When I do train abs I almost never add any additional resistance from weights, instead I focus on the contractions and pace my breathing keeping everything as tight as possible. (And...constant posing helps! 😆 😆 💪 💪)
